PROJECT EDITOR

HACHETTE INDIA is looking for a PROJECT EDITOR who is organised, detail-orientated and self-motivated, to manage a list of INTERNATIONAL TITLES with proven editorial and project management experience (mandatory).

What you’ll be doing

You will be independently project managing new editions through manuscript, editing, proofing, proof collation and typesetting, as well as overseeing ebook editions. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Briefing, managing and delivering fiction and non-fiction titles in your list
  • Independently planning and managing editorial and production schedules to ensure deadlines are met
  • Managing offsets, paperback editions, and ePub conversions
  • Commissioning, briefing, managing and quality-checking the work of freelancers
  • Managing proof corrections, including proof collation, and providing author care
  • Raising and managing purchase orders and costs
  • Liaising with production and editorial colleagues, co-publisher contacts, as well as suppliers and other in-house departments in the UK
  • Supporting other members of the team to ensure the smooth running of the editorial department
