Please read the Rules and Guidelines in full. But as a quick start, the primary application shall consist of the following:
Note: Hachette, the Publishers of LBR, as part of its Group data privacy norms does not solicit or retain any personal data of anyone beyond what is needed for basic verification or statement of the record in question.
No, there is no fee involved in registering a record with Limca Book of Records(LBR). At no point in the process does LBR take any fee nor does LBR have any external agents or representatives who need to be paid.

Our postal address is Hachette Book Publishing India Pvt Ltd, 4th/5th Floors, Corporate Centre, Plot no. 94, Sector 44, Gurugram 122003, India.

We give certificates to successful applicants where we have clearly and unequivocally confirmed that the record has been accepted. Many of the records – not necessarily all – an editorial decision, are published in the forthcoming edition of Limca Book of Records. The book may also have records from the public domain, for which certificates are usually not issued.
Please note that the records, if cancelled due to discrepancy, will also have certification cancelled.
Yes, we offer a 30 per cent discount (off the declared list price/MRP) to record holders for the book. The book will be shipped to any address in India at our cost by normal registered mail or in the case of bulk by road transport. Any other mode of despatch may be chargeable. But please check first if your record is being carried in the edition. As mentioned, all accepted records need not necessarily feature in the printed edition. For orders over 100 book copies, bulk pricing will be applicable.
Complimentary certificates will be given to a maximum of 10 members in a group (for applications where the claimants are registered as such). You may also write in for additional/participant certificates that may be processed at a nominal charge. For orders over 100 certificates, bulk pricing will be applicable.
Sometimes applications are rejected at the outset – if there’s no category or if there is a pre-existing record that surpasses the claim received or maybe some other reason which will be specified on a case-by-case basis (see question 10 below and Rules and Guidelines) including but not limited to the fact that LBR does not consider such records.
Then there are applications that are taken up for review which may be declined in the final scrutiny. Rejection may happen at any stage of the application and review process.
In some cases, a record may be cancelled even after it has been approved once or after issuing a certificate in case any discrepancy or regulatory issue comes to our notice afterwards. Any legal violation, death, or damage of life or property (especially government/public property) or wastage of food or anything else that we think is serious enough (see Rules and Guidelines for details) related to the attempt will also lead to cancellation if that is brought to our notice even after issuing a certificate.
The rules and guidelines are dynamic and sharpened continuously and you may browse the categories in our books. However, whether a category will be reviewed or not can only be confirmed over email by the editorial team as per the updated and current rules and guidelines.
Yes; however, creating new categories is an editorial decision and the LBR Team’s decision will be final in all matters.
Yes, you may but we’d advise against it. Our recommendation is that you connect with us at least one month before the attempt as we may have specific conditions for a particular attempt that should be met for a claim to be accepted. Also, it is better to check beforehand the list of documents you will have to furnish for a particular attempt. You may not be able to procure some of the necessary documents after the attempt has been done if you were not aware of it at the beginning.
Yes, in a case where the record itself as a category has been approved but only the documentation was pending or incomplete or needed further detailing, you may apply for the same category again with a new unique ID and send all the necessary and now complete documentation again. It will be considered a fresh application, not a follow-on from the earlier one. Documents submitted ‘earlier’ for an unsuccessful application will not be considered for a fresh application. Each document will need to be submitted again. You will also have to check the updated requirements of the category in case the record has been surpassed.
No, as per policy we do not send documents once they have been submitted. Please DO NOT SEND ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS in the first instance. You may send original documents only where specified, such as in the case of application and disclaimer forms.
Yes, record holders are required also keep their evidence for Life, to be produced when needed if any disputes arise and the record needs fresh scrutiny or reverification. Given the sheer quantum of applications processed, LBRwill not keep any data or records longer than one year [12 months] from acceptance in writing. In the event of any objection or discrepancy needing reverification, the record holder must keep all supportingevidence safe and readily accessible.
Unfortunately, many applications are rejected. The following are some of the reasons (and there may be more) that lead to the rejection of applications:
Each year will see a colour, large-format hardback edition published at year end and a single colour (black and white) paperback edition by mid-year. Exact publication dates will be available nearer the time (or on online platforms).
