ASTERIX COMPACT OMNIBUS 6 (HB)

René Goscinny

Four great adventures in one volume! This edition includes Asterix albums 21-24: Album 21. Asterix and Caesar's Gift (1974) Album 22. Asterix and the Great Crossing (1975) Album 23. Obelix and Co. (1976) Album 24. Asterix in Belgium (1979) Asterix and Caesar's Gift: Caesar gifts a perpetually drunk soldier the Gaulish Village, who sells it to an innkeeper for wine. The innkeeper arrives to claim the village as his own. On being denied it, he is pushed by his domineering wife to stand for election as chief, causing rivalries throughout the village. But this is just the beginning as the drunk soldier now also wants his gift back. Asterix and the Great Crossing: Unhygienix has no fresh fish – a key ingredient of the magic potion--since he imports them from Lutetia. Asterix and Obelix set sail to catch fish, but end up on the other side of the ocean, discovering a New World, where they eventually become a legend to the Native American populace. Obelix and Co.: Caesar sends a 'business advisor' to the Gaulish village, to make them rich, and thus decadent and dependent on Rome. He starts by buying menhirs at inflated prices, thus persuading most of the village to make useless menhirs, and in turn employing other villagers to hunt for their food. The plan comes undone when Caesar's treasury proves insufficient to fund the menhirs, and oversupply and competition cause the menhir market to collapse. Asterix in Belgium: When Vitalstatistix hears that Caesar has said the Belgians are the bravest of all the Gaulish peoples he heads to Belgium in a huff to show the world that his Armoricans are really the best.
