A charming non-fiction book that promotes a caring attitude, confidence, self-esteem and gives children a way to discuss emotions. The book explores topics such as insects and other minibeasts, caring for pets, litter, animal habitats and endangered animals. The book is an ideal starting point for a topic on animals or pets.
It is part of a series 'I care about' for children aged 4+. The titles are: My Friends, My Planet, Animals, My Family, My Growing Brain, My Body. The illustrations by Michael Buxton are quirky and fun and are designed to inspire a child's imagination.
Liz Lennon (Author) Liz Lennon is a writer who specialises in children's non-fiction. She lives in Hertfordshire with her husband and young daughter, who is the best critic of her mum's work. Hanane Kai (Illustrator) Hanane is obsessed with colours, textures and lighting. What she loves doing the most is creating worlds where the tactile melts with the digital. Her favourite colour is turquoise, and Hanane loves tea, cooking, and gardening - she dreams of a turquoise plant. Based in Lebanon, Hanane first ventured off as a Graphic Designer (with a BA degree from NDU), then pursued her passion for illustration, photography and miniature set design. She expresses herself through the visuals she creates, and hopes with every illustration to touch her audience, leaving them with a certain feeling or message. In 2016, Tongue Twisters, written by Fatima Sharafeddine and illustrated by Hanane Kai, won the prestigious Bologna Ragazzi New Horizons award, which celebrates excellence in children's publishing in developing countries.
