John Reed
John Silas Reed (1887–1920) was an American journalist, poet and a communist activist. He was a prominent war correspondent for the Mexican Revolution for Metropolitan and covered World War I for The Masses. In 1919, he covered the October Revolution in Petrograd, Russia, which was later shared by him in book form as Ten Days That Shook the World. He co-founded the Communist Labor Party of America in 1919, however the organization was short-lived.
He was given a hero's burial by the Soviet Union and was buried at the Kremlin Wall Necropolis, one of only five Americans buried there.
