Make that phone call in Italian: Teach Yourself

Teach Yourself - the world's leading learning brand - is relaunched in 2010 as a multi-platform experience that will keep you motivated to achieve your goals. Let our expert author guide you through this brand new edition, with personal insights, tips and summaries throughout the course. Go online at www.teachyourself.com for tests, extension articles and a vibrant community of like-minded learners. And if you don't have much time, don't worry - every course gives you 1, 5 and 10-minute bites of learning to get you started. And, to save you even more time, we are now including detailed track information in the booklet so that you can find what you want in the audio quickly.

Do you dread making a phone call in Italian? Is your first question always: 'Do you speak English?' Do you wish you knew what the person at the other end was saying?

If you wonder whether you've booked a hotel for June or July, whether your train leaves at 5am or 5pm, or whether you got that phone number right, then Teach Yourself Phone Italian is for you.

This all-audio 75-minute course will get you talking (and understanding!) Italian speakers on the phone faster than you can say 'Pronto'.

This stand-alone course can be used by those who want to learn or brush up on phone conversation skills, and by more advanced learners who require extra audio material to complement their current courses.

The ten realistic 'calls' cover the situations you are most likely to find yourself in while preparing for a holiday or business abroad. They are divided into two parts, with a dialogue in each part. Both parts start with an introduction to the words and phrases you'll need, 'The way you say it', followed by 'On the phone': the dialogue. Finally, you get to play the part of the caller, following the English prompts. So you get lots of opportunity to practise! Frequent track markers divide the CD up into short, easy-to-use clips.

The course comes on a 75-minute CD and has an accompanying 48-page booklet which gives the dialogues and the translations of the dialogues, for those who like to see the written word or want additional practice. The booklet also provides a glossary of the words and phrases used, and a 'Phone survival skills' section.

This is the perfect complement to 'Italian' and 'Speak Italian' in the 'Teach Yourself' series.
